In a discussion with Mr. Pham Tan Cong, Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Brazilian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Roberto Serroni Perosa assessed that the opportunities for cooperation between businesses of the two countries are expanding more than ever.

With impressive economic growth in recent years, Deputy Minister Perosa noted that Brazilian businesses are showing a keen interest in expanding economic, commercial, and investment cooperation with Vietnam.

Furthermore, Deputy Minister Roberto Serroni Perosa stated that the economies of both countries complement each other, especially in the agricultural sector. Vietnam has many potential export products to Brazil such as rice and fruits. Conversely, Brazilian enterprises are interested in exporting various types of meat to Vietnam, such as beef.

On the other hand, Brazil is a major economy in Latin America, ranking 9th in the world's largest economies. Therefore, the Brazilian Deputy Minister believes that through cooperation with Brazil, Vietnamese businesses can penetrate deeper into the South American common market (MERCOSUR). Conversely, he also expects that through Vietnam, Brazilian products can access ASEAN countries.

To further promote cooperation between the Vietnamese and Brazilian business communities, Deputy Minister Roberto Serroni Perosa proposed that VCCI closely coordinate with the Embassy, organizations, and Brazilian Business Associations in exchanging information about markets, partners, and potential cooperation opportunities, thereby enhancing mutual understanding.

In agreement with the Brazilian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Chairman of VCCI Pham Tan Cong stated that there is still a large potential for cooperation between the two countries' businesses, especially in areas such as agricultural machinery, animal feed ingredients, clean agriculture, biotechnology, and high technology.

Providing additional information to the Deputy Minister, it was mentioned that Vietnam's economy is currently experiencing good growth momentum, and Vietnam is on track to achieve its goal of becoming a developed, high-income country by 2045. This opens up significant opportunities for foreign businesses, including Brazilian enterprises, to exploit the market potential as people's demand for goods increases.

In addition, the Chairman of VCCI believes that Brazil is a country with a developed agriculture sector, producing high-standard products that meet international standards. Through cooperation, Vietnamese businesses can learn many experiences in applying high technology to production, aiming for sustainable development in agriculture.

As a country playing an important role in the MERCOSUR bloc, the Chairman of VCCI considers Brazil as a particularly potential partner and brings endless possibilities for all parties interested in trade and investment with Brazil. Chairman Pham Tan Cong also expects that the cooperation between businesses of the two countries will not only contribute to promoting trade between Vietnam and Brazil but also deepen the trade cooperation between MERCOSUR and ASEAN.

The Chairman of VCCI asserts that VCCI will always be a solid bridge for the business communities of Vietnam and Brazil. At the same time, he hopes that agencies, organizations, and Brazilian Business Associations will promote negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), ASEAN-Mercosur, creating a favorable legal framework to promote economic and trade cooperation.

Currently, Vietnam is the largest trading partner of Brazil in Southeast Asia, and vice versa, Brazil is the largest trading partner of Vietnam in Latin America. In 2023, bilateral trade turnover reached a record level of USD 7.11 billion. Moreover, with complementary economic structures, Vietnam and Brazil still have much room for development, aiming to increase bilateral trade turnover to USD 10 billion by 2025 and USD 15 billion by 2030.
