Sustainable development is both an urgent need and an inevitable trend in the global socio-economic progress. To achieve sustainable development goals, enterprises need to take a comprehensive approach that balances economic efficiency, corporate governance, social responsibility, and environmental protection.

For years, beyond communication and awareness-raising campaigns, VCCI — with the support of ministries, agencies, and international organizations — has actively implemented practical initiatives to enhance business awareness, especially in fostering integrity and social responsibility in business operations.
VCCI has been proactive, innovative, and pioneering in proposing and launching key initiatives, programs, and projects to support enterprises in pursuing sustainable development through a wide range of activities, including awareness-raising and communication; training and capacity building; research and policy advocacy; international cooperation; and business consulting.
The “Vietnam Business Forum for Sustainable Development”, initiated by VCCI, has been held annually since 2014 to promote dialogue on sustainable development between the Government and the business community. Through this Forum, the legal framework and policy mechanisms for sustainable development have been improved, creating more favorable conditions for business operations and contributing to the realization of the national sustainable development goals.

VCCI has also developed the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) to provide enterprises with a scientific and systematic corporate governance tool aligned with sustainable development principles. Together with the CSI, VCCI annually organizes the “Program on Benchmarking and Announcing Sustainable Companies in Vietnam” to recognize and honor businesses with outstanding achievements in sustainability.
Business Integrity
Since 2016, VCCI has implemented multiple initiatives to promote business integrity in Vietnam, such as the “Transparency and Consistency in Business Relations” Initiative; the Sub-project on Supporting SMEs to Prevent Corruption; the Business–Government Integrity Initiative (GBII) funded by the UK Prosperity Fund; and the Regional Project “Promoting a Fair Business Environment in ASEAN” under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
These initiatives aim to improve corporate governance efficiency, foster responsible business conduct, and promote sustainable development in Vietnam.

Responsible Business Conduct
In today’s business practices, integrating children’s rights into environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria has become increasingly important. These criteria are essential for responsible business operations and for building a more sustainable future for all.
VCCI, in collaboration with UNICEF, has been promoting responsible and sustainable business conduct, calling on the business community to respect and support children’s rights.
Since 2019, the project “Promoting Children’s Rights and Business Principles in Enterprises”, led by VCCI with support from UNICEF, has significantly contributed to spreading the Children’s Rights and Business Principles (CRBP) among enterprises. The project helps raise awareness and encourage multi-stakeholder engagement to create an enabling environment for businesses to respect and integrate children’s rights into their operations.
