The signing of a memorandum of understanding between VCCI and the Chamber of Commerce of Lima, Peru will promote mutual understanding between businesses of both sides, thereby promoting investment cooperation.
Representing VCCI, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice Chairman of VCCI and Mr. Hernan Lanzara, First Vice Chairman of Lima Chamber of Commerce signed the MOU.
Within the framework of the working trip to Peru to attend the 4th Annual Meeting of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) in 2024, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), an alternate member of ABAC Vietnam, had a meeting and worked with the Lima Chamber of Commerce and Industry to exchange more information on market information, as well as potential cooperation opportunities to further promote the relationship between the Vietnamese and Peruvian business communities.
According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Nguyen Quang Vinh, since the day Vietnam and Chile officially established diplomatic relations in November 1994, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have been continuously consolidated and developed well. Vietnam highly appreciates the role of Peru and always considers Peru one of Vietnam's leading important partners in the Latin American region.
The two sides have signed many cooperation agreements in the fields of economy, trade, agriculture, fisheries, investment in science and technology. In particular, the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in 2018 and officially taking effect in Peru from July 2021, along with the signing of a cooperation agreement by VCCI with the National Industrial Association of Peru (SNI) in 2006 and a cooperation agreement with the Lima Chamber of Commerce in 2008, have brought a lot of development potential to promote trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Peru to a new level.

However, cooperation between Vietnam and Peru still has much room for development. The import-export structure of the two countries can complement each other well. Vietnamese enterprises can also diversify their sources of raw materials for production with Peruvian partners (importing ores, gemstones, copper, molybdenum, silver, crude oil, natural gas, fabricated metal products and alloys, fish meal, textile accessories, etc.). Vietnam can boost the export of aquatic products, consumer goods such as textiles, footwear, agricultural products, and food to Peru.
Therefore, the Vice President of VCCI suggested that the two sides should regularly maintain and further strengthen information exchange and expand cooperation areas such as: Exchange of business delegations, organize conferences/forums to disseminate policies and information to attract trade and investment for Vietnamese and Peruvian enterprises.
At the same time, through the signing of the MOU with the Lima Chamber of Commerce, it will create favorable conditions for the business communities of the two countries to effectively exploit all economic potentials of the two countries, serving the development of Vietnam as well as Peru, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development.

Over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Peru have always maintained a good relationship through many bilateral dialogue mechanisms, from politics, diplomacy to economics and trade. The two countries share many common values, actively participate in and constantly strengthen cooperation and support each other at international forums. The relationship is the result of the continuous efforts of both sides, with sincerity, trust and responsibility, with sympathy, sharing and mutual respect to achieve the goals that both countries aspire to, meeting the aspirations of the people of both countries.
Peru is currently Vietnam's 6th largest trading partner in Latin America and Vietnam's most important investment destination in the Latin American region. The two countries also have a lot of potential for cooperation, especially when many products enjoy tax exemptions from the fact that both countries are members of the CPTPP Agreement.
Vietnam is currently a key and active member of the ASEAN bloc. Meanwhile, Peru is a member of the Pacific Alliance (AP). This will be a good opportunity to further promote inter-regional cooperation.
