Vietnam, Cuba Strengthen Trade-Investment Ties

Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) recently received Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes to discuss measures to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, the VCCI leader acknowledged Cuba's challenges due to prolonged sanctions and fuel shortages and reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to support Cuba and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
VCCI will collaborate with the Cuban Embassy, and Cuban Chamber of Commerce to organize an investment promotion seminar, focusing on the ViMariel Industrial Park and the Mariel Special Development Zone. Vietnam is also willing to share its expertise in agricultural products, renewable energy and medical tourism.
Vietnam is currently Cuba’s second-largest trading partner in Asia, exporting mainly rice, consumer goods, steel and textiles. VCCI and the Cuban Chamber of Commerce have maintained cooperation since 1999, fostering trade and investment through bilateral agreements.
Vietnam remains the largest Asian investor in Cuba, with five projects spanning energy, consumer goods and agriculture. Meanwhile, Cuba has four projects in Vietnam in the construction consultancy sector, contributing to the economic partnership between the two nations.
