The Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) Program 2022, the 7th of its kind, administered and organized by VCCI in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE), the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) has received participation of a large number of businesses across the country, regardless of the size and field of operation.

Some of the top 100 sustainable enterprises include Garment Corporation 10, Nestle Vietnam Co., Ltd., Coca-Cola Vietnam Co., Ltd., Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), TNG Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company, BRG Group, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ), and Bao Viet Group.

In addition to honoring the main category, the program also honors businesses that perform well in three categories: Promoting women's empowerment and gender equality in the workplace; advancing responsible business and respect for children's rights in business; implementing the circular economy model, and adopting climate change responses.

The Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) is updated and upgraded to become more complete, friendlier and closer to detailed and specific criteria to match domestic legal regulations and international standards and requirements. Among 130 CSI indicators in 2022, up to 68% is related to legal compliance requirements, while 32% is associated with sustainable business initiatives. This shows that, only by complying well with legal provisions can companies build a solid foundation for sustainable development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of VCCI, Chairman of VBCSD, Dand eputy Head of the Steering Committee of the CSI 2022 Program said, besides the positive response from businesses, the Program also received great recognition from the Government for promoting sustainability practices among a great number of businesses.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, the CSI 2022 Program recorded nearly 25% of new businesses participating for the first time, showing that more and more businesses are interested in the Program in particular and sustainability practices in general.

Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Member of the Politburo, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, stated that sustainable development is a strategic direction and an indispensable choice for the development model of the Vietnamese business community. He recommended that Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs need to further promote their initiative, creative capacity and strengthen cooperation; promote responsible business to spur economic growth in harmony with environmental and social benefits.

Also at the ceremony, VCCI President Pham Tan Cong officially launched the Program on Benchmarking and Announcing Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam 2023. “Sustainable business will create a better world. Sustainable, responsible business is the foundation for breakthrough development and is a critical factor to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. VCCI is committed to always working collectively with agencies, organizations and businesses in their efforts to build a sustainable business community who are dedicated to the sustainable development and prosperity of the country,” VCCI President Pham Tan Cong emphasized.
