The Ministry of Information and Communications and VCCI Collaborate to Promote Digital Transformation

The Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) have signed a cooperation agreement to support the promotion of investment and trade in "Make in Vietnam" digital technology products for digital transformation with a vision for 2030.

On July 30, 2024, in Hanoi, leaders from the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) signed a cooperation agreement to support the promotion of investment and trade in "Make in Vietnam" digital technology products. This agreement aims to serve digital transformation, and the development of the digital economy and digital society for the period 2024-2026, with a vision for 2030.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications, and representatives of various units under the Ministry of Information and Communications. From the VCCI, there were Chairman Pham Tan Cong, members of the Standing Committee, and leaders of various departments and affiliated institutes.

In addition, the event was attended by more than 100 delegates, including leaders of digital technology enterprises, business associations, and national press agencies.

Sharing at the signing ceremony, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung stated, “Digital transformation is a positive growth driver. Therefore, the transformation must start from the top leaders. Only top leaders have the credibility and resources to make changes. As for VCCI, I hope Chairman Pham Tan Cong will take the lead role. Thus, VCCI must be the leading organization in digital transformation, applying information technology to experience and guide, encouraging its members and the Vietnamese business community to undertake digital transformation.

 

VCCI Enterprises and Agencies Signed Cooperation Agreement Witnessed by Leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications and VCCI

Speaking at the signing ceremony, VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong stated: “The development and growth of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises are of great significance, contributing to the national digital transformation tasks outlined in the XIII Party Congress Documents, and also realizing the goals for developing entrepreneurs and enterprises set forth in the Resolution 41 of the Politburo. Vietnamese digital technology enterprises are also one of the key national business groups that need to be promoted and supported in the context of the entire country advancing the national digital transformation, and developing the digital economy and digital society.”

To ensure the effectiveness of the cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, during the event, VCCI leaders will sign cooperation agreements to promote digital transformation with leaders from six exemplary enterprises: Viettel, VNPT, Mobifone, FPT, CMC, and MISA.

VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong stated that during the VII National Congress of VCCI, a vision was established to build “Strong Enterprises - Prosperous Nation” as a strategic goal for VCCI’s activities and the Vietnamese business community in the coming years. Among these, “Promoting support for enterprises in digital transformation, technology application, and innovation in strategy and business models” has been identified as one of the three strategic breakthroughs for VCCI in the 2021-2026 term.

“Therefore, in the coming time, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be ready to support the connection between business associations and the Vietnamese business community in deploying 'Make in Vietnam' digital technology products to enhance competitiveness and improve business performance to meet the demands of digital transformation, and the development of the digital economy and digital society. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information and Communications, with its role as a specialized management agency, will gather, guide, and create an environment to promote Vietnamese digital technology enterprises with high-quality 'Make in Vietnam' products, to be ready to support the business community in digital transformation applications,” Mr. Pham Tan Cong added.

The Cooperation Agreement is Expected to Promote and Expand Digital Transformation Demand Across the Vietnamese Business Community

The cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) focuses on the following main areas:

Firstly, Consultation and Advising on Digital Transformation Strategies and Policies: The Ministry of Information and Communications will provide consulting and support in developing digital transformation strategies, plans, and programs for VCCI. VCCI will propose solutions, create an environment, and establish policies to support the market for Vietnamese digital technology enterprises.

Secondly, Support for Trade Promotion, Investment in Products, Solutions, and Services: This includes promoting "Make in Vietnam" digital technology products and solutions for domestic digital transformation, and the development of the digital economy and society. Activities will include: publicity, surveys on the digital transformation needs of businesses, trade promotion conferences, supply-demand connections, and notably, selecting and ordering 10 exemplary "Make in Vietnam" digital technology products, solutions, and services in 10 sectors for pilot implementation at VCCI and member enterprises. This will help evaluate and scale up products that deliver practical benefits for people and businesses.

Thirdly, Support for Market Development and Foreign Market Investment: This involves activities such as supporting the registration and protection of intellectual property and technology transfer abroad; connecting and introducing trade partners, providing information, guidance, and consulting for businesses, and conducting trade and investment promotion activities overseas.
