A ceremony was held to mark the inauguration of Viet Avis, Vietnam’s most modern poultry processing plant, in Hoang Quy commune of Hoang Hoa district in Thanh Hoa province on October 24.

The new plant has received a total of VND300 billion, (approximately US$13.1 million) in investment from the Hungarian group Master Good, along with local company Phu Gia.

Covering an area of 60,000 square metres, the plant has a processing capacity of 2,500 poultry heads per hour, equivalent to 40 tonnes per day.

Most notably, the plant's waste treatment area is equipped with the latest technology whilst a fish tank has been built in the vicinity to test the safety of wastewater. One of the criteria enforced on the plant is that any water discharged into the environment must be hygienic.

Upon addressing the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong affirmed that the plant coming into operation marks the remarkable progress made in the country’s poultry development strategy.

Furthermore, the opening of the facility will also serve to create high value-added agricultural products, provide stable incomes for those in the local area, as well as increasing the State’s revenue.
