Smuggled brandy seized in Quang Binh

The market watch agency of Quang Binh province joined forces with local traffic police in order to seize over 3,000 bottles of brandy as it was in the process of being smuggled on board a trailer truck.

3,100 foreign-made alcohol bottles are seized in Quang Binh province 

Local police successfully stopped a trailer truck, registered 60C 190.44, as it was travelling on National Highway 1A.

 

Upon conducting a search of the vehicle, officers discovered more than 3,100 foreign-made alcohol bottles with labels bearing a range of famous brand names, such as Black Nikka, Black Clear, and Jonnie Walker.

The value of the goods stands at an estimated VND1.5 billion, equivalent to US$64,000.

Following the discovery, the driver was identified as 43-year-old Huynh Van Thao of My Phong commune, Phu My district, Binh Dinh province.

The value of the goods is estimated at US$64,000.

 

 

When questioned, Thao was unable to provide documents or invoices in order to verify the bottles of brandy.

The case is currently under further investigation.

The bust represents the largest smuggled foreign-made alcohol ring ever foiled in Quang Binh province.
