Remains of Vietnamese soldiers brought home from Laos

VOV.VN -The remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Laos were repatriated from Oudomxay province in northern Laos on June 18.
At the repatriation ceremony
Representatives from the Vietnamese Military Zone 2’s Steering Committee on Search and Repatriation of Remains of Fallen Soldiers, also known as the Steering Committee 515 Special Working Committee, the Vietnamese community in Oudomxay province, and local Laotian people all came together to attend the repatriation ceremony.
The remains of the fallen soldiers had been found in Muong Nga district in Oudomxay province as well as in Muongngoi district in Luang Prabang province.
Participants gathered at the ceremony and offered flowers and incense to the martyrs, showing their gratitude to those who had sacrificed their lives to aid the cause of the liberation of Laos.
In his speech, Major General Tran Ngoc Tuan, Vice Political Commissar of the Vietnamese Military Zone 2, said the Steering Committee will continue to make contact with old Laotian soldiers in order to collect information that may help in finding remains of fallen soldiers in the future.
He expressed his hope that more remains of fallen Vietnamese heroes will be found in Laos in the future.
Established in 1994, the Steering Committee 515 has recovered the remains of some 1,743 Vietnamese soldiers.
