VOV.VN - At the Investment Promotion Conference in Tokyo on June 3, the south-central province of Phu Yen called on Japanese investors to inject their money into six projects that the province pledged to implement a number of incentive policies to attract fresh investment capital.

The projects focus on the development of a logistics service zone for fishing tuna, aquaculture, forest plantation, in addition to infrastructure development of a hi-tech zone and the hi-tech production of tropical vegetables as well as creating hi-tech farms specifically for livestock and poultry.

Upon addressing the conference, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Dai Duong highlighted a number of the province’s advantages in terms of economic development, particularly with regard to its sea economy.

A long coastline, favourable weather conditions, and upgraded infrastructure have facilitated the development of spearhead industries in the locality such as tourism, clean agriculture, supporting industry, and renewable energy, he noted.

In order to fully tap into its potential, Phu Yen has worked with major partners, including from Japan, to devise long-term plans and strategies to associate sustainable development with environmental protection, he said.

Vu Hong Nam, Vietnamese ambassador to Japan affirmed that this is a good time for Japanese businesses to invest in Vietnam, especially in Phu Yen province.

He elaborated on the fine developments in Vietnam-Japan relations over the years, noting that the implementation of policies aimed at attracting foreign investment over the past 30 years has created a favourable business climate for foreign investors.

The country has participated in several free trade agreements including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, also known as the CPTPP, which has facilitated the export of products by foreign businesses from Vietnam to other markets, Ambassador Nam added.

During the conference, local representatives also answered queries from Japanese investors on the incentive policies put forward to encourage investment in areas such as agriculture, forestry, fishing, infrastructure, and tourism in the locality.
