Pepper exports to key markets increased in 2024

In 2024, Vietnam exported 249,380 tonnes of pepper, with export turnover of 1.31 billion USD, down 6.2% in volume, but up 44.4% in value compared to 2023.

According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in December 2024 Vietnam’s pepper exports reached 14,740 tonnes, generating a turnover of 97.4 million USD, down 7.1% in volume and down 8.5% in value compared to the previous month, and down 27.2% in volume but up 25.9% in value compared to December 2023.

In 2024, Vietnam’s pepper exports reached 249.380 tonnes, worth 1.31 billion USD, down 6.2% in volume, but up 44.4% in value compared to 2023.

In December 2024, Vietnam’s average pepper export price reached 6,871 USD/tonne, down 5.6% compared to that of November 2024 but up 78.6% compared to that of December 2023. In 2024, Vietnam’s pepper export price reached a record high, with an average export price of 5,280 USD/tonne, in which the price of black pepper was 5,269 USD/tonne, up 51.4% and white pepper at 6,503 USD/tonne, up 29.9% compared to 2023.

In December 2024, Vietnam’s pepper exports to most traditional and potential markets decreased in volume but increased in value compared to December 2023, except for exports to the United Arab Emirates and South Korea, which decreased in both volume and value. In general, in 2024, pepper exports to most key markets increased in both volume and value, except for exports to India and the Philippines, which decreased in volume but increased in value.

In 2024, Vietnam mainly exported black pepper, accounting for 68.08% of the total volume and 68.06% of the total turnover; followed by ground black pepper, accounting for 14.83% of the total volume and 16.07% of the total turnover...

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in December 2024, Vietnam’s black pepper exports reached 9,400 tonnes, worth 60.2 million USD, down 32.6% in volume, but up 20.4% in value over the same period in 2023.

In general, in 2024, black pepper exports reached 169,780 tonnes, worth 894.67 million USD, down 8.1% in volume, but up 39% in value compared to 2023. On the contrary, in 2024, exports of ground black pepper, white pepper, ground white pepper, and green pepper from Vietnam increased in both volume and value compared to 2023, of which green black pepper exports saw the highest increase, up 45.35% in volume and 68.6% in value.
