Nearly 37,000 foreigners enter Viet Nam since March 7, says PM

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has lauded the efforts made by the Ministry of Public Security in tracing all Vietnamese and foreign nationals entering Viet Nam between March 7-24 in a bid to the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

The ministry has found and requested 36,911 foreigners and 44,636 Vietnamese to isolate themselves at places of residence in the reviewed period, said Government chief at an on-going meeting on COVID-19 prevention and control.

He also haled efforts made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its representative agencies in disseminating necessary information to Vietnamese people living and working abroad and managed to repatriate at least 766 students.

As of Thursday morning, 434,900 people contracted the virus and death toll rose to 19,607 around the world.

In Viet Nam, 17 out of 148 patients have recovered and exited hospitals while all the rest have been reported since March 6.

The nation is also medically monitor 46,933 people who have been in close contact with the COVID-19 patients or returning from pandemic-stricken areas./.
