The Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a press conference to launch the "Digital Technology Products Make in Vietnam" award in 2024. This is one of the contents to realize the Cooperation Agreement on supporting investment promotion - trade of digital technology products Made in Vietnam serving digital transformation, developing digital economy, digital society in the period of 2024 - 2026, vision 2030 between the two agencies.

2024 is the 4th year that the "Make in Vietnam Digital Technology Product" award is held to discover and honor outstanding digital technology products researched, designed, created, and manufactured in Vietnam by organizations and enterprises to solve problems for Vietnam and go international.

Mr. Bui Hoang Phuong - Deputy Minister of Information and Communications emphasized that in recent years, the Party and the State have created favorable conditions for the development of Vietnam's digital technology through mechanisms and preferential policies for enterprises operating in this field, innovative digital enterprises, enterprises investing in high-tech projects such as AI, semiconductors, cloud computing, etc.

Implementing the Government's direction, the Ministry of Information and Communications is completing the legal framework for the development of the digital technology industry, submitting to the Government both the draft Strategy and the draft Law on Digital Technology Industry.

In line with that policy, this year's award honors outstanding digital technology products that bring pride and intelligence to Vietnam, have high applicability, contribute to promoting economic growth, create national competitive advantages, increase labor productivity, bring value to businesses and people, create more practical and comprehensive results in digital transformation, develop the digital economy in industries and fields.

The Ministry of Information and Communications coordinates with VCCI to organize and select and award Gold, Silver, Bronze and Top 10 awards for the best digital technology products. At the same time, it commits to accompany businesses with award-winning products to bring digital technology products to the market, meeting the needs of the economy, businesses and the community.

At the launching press conference, Mr. Hoang Quang Phong - Vice President of VCCI shared: after 4 times of organization, the "Make in Viet Nam Digital Technology Products" award has discovered and honored 234 Make in Viet Nam digital technology products. This is a meaningful and proud number when the products crystallize scientific and technological achievements that are ready to compete in the world market. Importantly, the business community and Vietnamese people can enjoy the scientific and technological achievements made by domestic digital technology enterprises.

The results achieved in the past time are an activity to concretize Directive No. 01/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister dated January 14, 2020 on promoting the development of Vietnamese CNS enterprises; Resolution 41 - NQ/TW dated October 10, 2023 of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era as well as implementing other socio-economic development programs.

Affirming the great potential for developing digital technology products in Vietnam, from this award, Mr. Hoang Quang Phong expressed his wish that the Ministry of Information and Communications will continue to proactively coordinate to organize this meaningful award, moving towards establishing a digital technology association "Make in Vietnam" to jointly research and develop meaningful digital technology products, contributing more effectively to the economy.

Through the program of signing a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Information and Communications in implementing investment and trade promotion of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises to serve the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, VCCI will promote and encourage enterprises to boldly introduce their intellectual products to participate in the award. This can be considered a Vietnamese digital technology product incubator, contributing to promoting the digital technology business community to match the strong development of technology, meeting the expectations of Party and State leaders, ministries, branches and society.

Leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications and VCCI expect that this year's "Make in Vietnam Digital Technology Product" award will select and honor outstanding products serving digital transformation and digital economic development.

Providing more information about the new points of this year's award, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tuyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Information Technology and Communications Industry (Ministry of Information and Communications) said: the award has 8 categories, including 5 new categories for technology products serving digital transformation, digital economic development in industries and fields, basically covering all economic sectors of Vietnam, demonstrating digital application innovations, digital transformation for industries and fields, promoting labor productivity improvement.

These are categories for outstanding digital technology products in the fields of: industry and construction; agriculture, natural resources and environment; transportation, post and logistics; education, health, culture, society and finance, banking, trade and services.

In addition, the category of outstanding new technology products is added to search for and honor digital technology products related to AI, bigdata, IoT, semiconductors.

Regarding the participants, the category of potential digital technology products only applies to micro, small enterprises or innovative startups established under Vietnamese law (if it is a foreign-invested enterprise, Vietnamese people must own at least 51% of the total shares).

In the category of outstanding digital technology products for foreign markets, the subject is added to be enterprises established abroad but with Vietnamese people owning at least 51% of the total shares.

The time for receiving registration and documents to participate in the award is from August 22 to October 22, 2024. The award ceremony will be held in December 2024 within the framework of the National Forum on Developing Vietnamese Digital Technology Enterprises.
