VOV.VN - As many as 196 entries from the Denmark in Your Eyes 2018 Art Contest were handed over to the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital on May 10 with a hope of bringing in brighter and happier mood in children receiving treatments.

At the ceremony.

The Danish Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam – Denmark Friendship Association (VIDAFA) jointly held a ceremony to donate these entries.

These paintings have been picked up from more than 4,100 submissions sent by nearly 100 schools, children and art centers nationwide to the annual art contest. The event was co-hosted by the Danish embassy, VIDAFA, Kim Dong Publishing House, and Nhi Dong Newspaper last December.

“Research in Denmark has shown that exposure to lively visual arts can bolster spirits, reduce stress and calm anxieties for family members while contributing beneficially to patients’ recovery. It is my sincere hope, that the vivid artworks donated to Vietnam National Children’s Hospital will add a much-needed distraction to the young patients who come here for life-saving treatment,” said Danish Ambassador Kim Højlund Christensen.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha, who is also Chairman of the VIDAFA, expressed his belief in the difference and positive impacts these paintings would make to the children and their families.

“These paintings offer children’s explorations of beautiful green dreams in which people, animals and nature live in harmony.  These artworks radiate great imagination and inspiration. So, I believe that they will have very positive impacts on the recovery of pediatric patients undergoing treatments here,” Ha said.

Le Thi Minh Huong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, said she believes the donated paintings will create positive energy and make patients feel much more comfortable during their hospitalization.

Previously, the competition organizing board donated similar entries to the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Hospital and the National Hospital of Traditional Medicine.

The first Denmark in Your Eyes Art Contest was launched by the Danish Embassy and the VIDAFA to mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Denmark in 2016.
