A total of 2,193 cases of dengue fever have been recorded across Thua Thien-Hue province since the beginning of the year.

The largest number of outbreaks in the province have been detected in Phu Loc district with 429 cases, followed by Phu Vang district with 249 cases, and Huong Thuy commune with 223 cases. In addition to these areas, Huong Tra town has been hit with 181 cases, Nam Dong district with 152 cases, Phong Dien district with 95 cases, Quang Dien district with 50 cases, and A Luoi district with nine cases.

Since the start of the year, the city of Hue has faced 744 cases of dengue fever as of November 10, this represents a 13.2-fold increase in comparison to the same period last year.

As a means of bringing the situation under control, the city has sprayed 205 litres of chemicals across 46,500 households in a bid to prevent the disease from spreading further.

Along with these measures, the Thua Thien-Hue provincial health department has also requested that local health centres take steps to boost knowledge about what preventive action regular citizens can take to stop the spread of the disease. Health centres are also being urged to classify patients correctly so they can receive the correct form of treatment dependent on their situation.

The health department is also encouraging local residents to take environmental sanitation measures with the aim of eliminating mosquito larvae.
