The meeting was aimed to discuss specific directions and solutions for carrying out activities of ASEAN in 2024 when Laos assumes the chairmanship.

ASEAN 2024 is themed “Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience”. “Connectivity” matches ASEAN's ongoing carryout of the ASEAN Connectivity Master Plan. In addition, as global competition is increasingly fierce and the Covid-19 pandemic is still causing severe subsequences, ASEAN’s “resilience” is extremely important.

Speaking at the meeting, VCCI Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh emphasized that 2024 marks a series of 10 important ASEAN events, including four annual meetings of ASEAN BAC (to be held in January, March, June and August), two annual meetings of the JBC Joint Business Council (January and June), the dialogue between ASEAN BAC and ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) (June and September), the launch of ABA and ABIS 2024 ( July), the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2024 (ASEAN BIS 2024) (October), the ASEAN Business Awards 2024 (ABA 2024) (October) and the dialogue between ASEAN BAC and ASEAN Leaders Summit (October).

Reportedly, in early 2023, VCCI/ASEAN BAC Vietnam informed the implementation of the Legacy Project of ASEAN BAC Vietnam: "CSI-For Corporate Sustainable Development” in ASEAN and received support and praise from members.

ASEAN BAC members highly appreciated the practicality and urgency, expressed their desire to cooperate with ASEAN BAC Vietnam to carry out the project in ASEAN countries to build the CSI Index suitable for each country, he said. Besides, CSI demonstrates Vietnam's leadership in sustainable development in the region.

At the meeting, he proposed that businesses and business bodies actively join ASEAN activities to bolster cooperation in many fields such as economics, trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, science, technology, environment, security and safety in the region.

BRG President Nguyen Thi Nga and Garment 10 Director Than Duc Viet expressed their support and commitment to actively take part in ASEAN activities in 2024, contribute to regional economic integration and strengthen Vietnam's position in the ASEAN community.

The meeting reached consensus on various specific directions and solutions, with emphasis on economic cooperation, trade, investment, tourism, culture, education, science and technology, environment, security and safety. This will help reinforce the coordination of VCCI, BRG and May 10 in implementing ASEAN activities in 2024.
