Each year, coal-fired thermal power plants nationwide generate an average of more than 25 million tonnes of ash and slag. In the past, most of this by-product was disposed of in landfills, causing environmental pollution and wasting resources. Today, thanks to coherent mechanisms and policies introduced by the Government, ministries and sectors, together with the efforts by enterprises, ash and slag have been increasingly being recycled into valuable materials and products.
