Under a provincial People's Committee decision issued last Friday, the five approved investors are Ea Sup Solar JSC, Ea Sup Renewable Energy JSC, Tay Nguyen Solar JSC, Ia Rve Solar JSC, and Xuan Thien Dak Lak Co. Ltd. All are part of the Xuan Thien business ecosystem.
According to the approved plan, the Ia Rve Solar Power Complex will cover 1,338 hectares across Ia Rve and Ia Lop communes. The project comprises four solar power plants, an energy storage system, and infrastructure connecting the facilities to the national grid.
Three plants – Ia Rve 1, Ia Rve 2 and Ia Rve 3 – will each have a capacity of 300 MW, with investments of VND6.36 trillion ($245.59 million), VND6.33 trillion and VND6.33 trillion, respectively. The fourth plant will have a capacity of 100 MW and require about VND2.12 trillion ($81.65 million).
The investors will contribute approximately VND6.41 trillion ($247.45 million), equivalent to 30.33% of the total investment, while the remaining VND14.73 trillion ($568.51 million) will be mobilized from other sources.
In addition to the 1,000 MW of generation capacity, the complex will feature a 100 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) with a storage capacity of 200 megawatt-hours. The system will store some of the electricity generated during daylight hours for later use or delivery to the grid when needed.
Supporting infrastructure will include 110-kilovolt substations, transmission lines, and an expansion of the Xuan Thien-Ea Sup 500-kV substation. All electricity generated by the complex will be sold to Vietnam Electricity (EVN) through the national power system.
Construction and commissioning are scheduled to take 18 months from the date the relevant land allocation, land lease or land-use conversion decision takes effect. Before work begins, the investors must complete the required procedures covering land, construction, environmental protection, forestry, and electricity.
Xuan Thien already has a substantial presence in Dak Lak province’s solar power sector. Its existing Xuan Thien Ea Sup complex comprises five solar power plants with a combined capacity of 600 MW and investment of VND15.4 trillion ($594.49 million). The complex began operations in December 2020.
With the newly approved Ia Rve project, Xuan Thien’s solar investments in Dak Lak will amount to 1,600 MW in capacity and over VND36.5 trillion ($1.41 billion) in investment, including operational and under-development projects.
