Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Nguyen Quang Vinh speaks at the working session with the Estonian business delegation
Assessing the cooperation potential between the business communities of the two countries, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), stated that Estonia has long been recognized globally as a pioneer in building a digital government and digital society.
Speaking at the working session with the Estonian business delegation, according to the VCCI Vice President, with 99% of public services provided online and a paperless governance system that has operated stably for more than 15 years, this Baltic nation is not only a partner but also a major source of inspiration for countries undergoing strong transformation like Vietnam.
“Estonia is a global pioneer in digital government and digital society. This is precisely the area that Vietnam is particularly interested in within its national digital transformation strategy towards 2030,” said the VCCI Vice President. The similarity in strategic vision has opened up important “touchpoints” for both sides to explore together.
Vietnam’s vision towards 2030 is not only about digitalization but also about a close integration between digital transformation and green transformation. Vietnam is focusing its efforts on achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. Notably, the 2025–2026 period marks an important milestone as Power Development Plan VIII is being strongly implemented, prioritizing the attraction of renewable energy projects and green finance solutions.

The VCCI Vice President emphasized that this is exactly the area where Estonian enterprises can maximize their advantages. With strengths in unique technologies for smart grid management, digital emissions management solutions, and circular economy models, Estonian businesses are expected to work with Vietnam to build a sustainable future.
Specifically, Vice President Nguyen Quang Vinh pointed out three key areas of cooperation: cybersecurity; Smart City solutions; and Blockchain technology.
In addition, Vietnam is prioritizing the attraction of renewable energy projects, waste treatment technologies, and green finance solutions. “This is the ideal ‘playground’ for Estonian enterprises to bring their unique technologies and join us in shaping the future,” the VCCI Vice President added.
As the national organization representing the Vietnamese business community, the VCCI Vice President affirmed that VCCI will not only serve as a bridge but also as a “companion” to Estonian enterprises in Vietnam; at the same time committing to support access to reliable partner databases, interpret the latest legal regulations, and organize in-depth B2B activities tailored to specific needs.
More importantly, VCCI is always ready to act as a direct information channel to convey recommendations and remove policy barriers, ensuring that the business environment in Vietnam remains fertile ground for Estonian investors.

Estonian Ambassador Hannes Hanso speaks at the working session
Responding to the proposals from the VCCI Vice President, Estonian Ambassador Hannes Hanso affirmed that although geographically distant, the two countries have many complementary strengths.
According to the Ambassador, bilateral relations are gaining strong momentum, demonstrating a shared commitment to deepening cooperation in advanced technology sectors.
At the same time, the complementarity between the two economies is the key to generating sustainable value. If Vietnam is a strategic gateway for Estonia to penetrate deeper into the dynamic ASEAN market, then Estonia is the “digital gateway” enabling Vietnamese enterprises to access the European and Baltic markets with great potential.
“Deepening cooperation in advanced technology sectors is not merely about business activities, but about jointly opening new doors for the future. We are committed to promoting deeper exchanges in digital innovation, thereby building a solid bridge for the business communities of both sides to grow together and create positive impacts for society,” the Estonian Ambassador emphasized.

Currently, bilateral trade turnover is no longer at the modest level of USD 10 million as in 2010. By 2025, this figure has grown steadily to over USD 80 million, thanks to the effective utilization of free trade agreements, helping Vietnam’s key export products penetrate deeper into the Nordic market.
Vietnam mainly exports to Estonia seafood, fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts, coffee, plastic products, wood and wood products, and textiles and garments; and imports from Estonia dairy products, chemicals, rubber, wood, and wood products, among others.
