VCCI Secretary General Tran Thi Lan Anh presents a souvenir to Mr. An Sieu, Deputy Mayor of Kunyu City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region (China).
On July 29, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), VCCI Secretary General Tran Thi Lan Anh received a delegation from Kunyu City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region (China) led by Mr. An Sieu, Deputy Mayor.
The meeting aimed to discuss economic and trade cooperation opportunities between businesses of the two sides, opening up new directions in market connection.
Informing the VCCI Secretary General, Deputy Mayor of Kunyu said that Kunyu currently has economic strengths in typical manufacturing sectors such as jade mining, agriculture, animal husbandry and light industry. Key agricultural products include walnuts, pomegranates, red apples, dairy products, beef, lamb, and cotton fibers...
In addition, Kunyu is focusing on developing modern economic and technical industrial parks, textile production zones, agricultural and food processing zones, logistics services, trade, cultural tourism and high-end service industries. Mr. An Sieu said that Kunyu can support Vietnam in expanding logistics and trade connections to Central Asia and Europe.
Deputy Mayor An Sieu also proposed that VCCI organize a business delegation to visit and learn about the market and products in Kunyu in particular and Xinjiang in general.
Listening to the proposals from Deputy Mayor Kunyu, the Secretary General of VCCI commented that although the cooperation between Vietnamese and Xinjiang, China businesses is still in its early stages and not yet large-scale, the potential is still open.
VCCI Secretary General Tran Thi Lan Anh and VCCI representatives received a working delegation from Kunyu City, Xinjiang Autonomous Region (China) led by Mr. An Sieu, Deputy Mayor.
In November 2024, a high-level delegation from Xinjiang led by Mr. Zhang Zhu, Deputy Secretary of the Regional Party Committee, Secretary of the Urumqi City Party Committee, visited and worked in Hanoi. During the meetings, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation in the following areas: Transportation - logistics; Agricultural product trade; Renewable energy; Human resource training.
In addition, Vietnam proposed that Xinjiang expand the import of agricultural products, aquatic products, coffee and pepper. Xinjiang is interested in promoting cooperation in green technology and clean energy.
The VCCI Secretary General said that connection activities and trade - investment promotion forums need to be strengthened in the coming time so that businesses of both sides can have more information and mutual understanding, and share experiences in areas where both sides have strengths.
Notably, Ms. Lan Anh suggested that tourism is a potential area of cooperation as Xinjiang possesses beautiful landscapes and Vietnamese people are also interested in tourist areas in China.
At the same time, Secretary General Tran Thi Lan Anh also pledged that VCCI will continue to act as a reliable bridge, ready to support Xinjiang businesses in researching the market, connecting with partners and implementing projects in Vietnam.
