During a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung on Monday, Cris Turner, vice president of knowledge & information products, government affairs and public policy at Google, said the company is seeking effective ways to expand cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in AI,
Turner said Google wants its cooperation to deliver practical benefits for Vietnamese people. He also discussed Vietnam’s development potential, international experience, and possible areas for cooperation to strengthen economic, trade, and investment ties between Vietnam and the U.S.
In reply, Deputy PM Dung stressed that Vietnam considers science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation key drivers of economic growth.
The country’s market size, demographic structure, and increasingly dynamic technology business community provide a foundation for Vietnam to develop into a regional hub for technology development and applications, he said.
Vietnam is seeking partnerships that combine investment with research and development, technology transfer, and high-quality workforce training, Dung said. The goal is to strengthen domestic companies and help them develop products capable of competing in global markets.
He called on Google to continue supporting Vietnam’s digital ecosystem and help “Make in Vietnam” products and solutions expand into international markets. Vietnam welcomes U.S. investment, particularly in science, technology, and digital transformation, he underscored.
Google has maintained a presence in Vietnam since opening its Ho Chi Minh City office in 2023. In AI, Google has worked with the National Innovation Center (NIC) since July 2024 under the “AI Vietnam Future” initiative. The program covered 40,000 scholarships for digital skills training, including AI courses, as well as support programs for startups.
In June 2025, Google and NIC expanded their cooperation with initiatives aimed at supporting AI startups and promoting AI literacy in Vietnam.
