This was one of the key points emphasized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Hung, Chairman of VCCI, at the announcement ceremony of the “Outstanding Vietnamese Supplier 2025” selection program, organized under the direction of VCCI.

According to the Chairman of VCCI, the announcement ceremony was held at a particularly meaningful time, following the successful organization of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which has generated new momentum and renewed determination across the entire political system and the business community as the country enters a new development phase with long-term vision, strong aspirations, and high commitment.
This also marks the first year of a new development period for the country, with the comprehensive implementation of major Party orientations on private sector development, strengthening endogenous economic capacity, promoting digital transformation, green transition, and deeper integration into global value chains.
In that context, Chairman Ho Sy Hung noted that the “Outstanding Vietnamese Supplier 2025” program is not merely an activity to honor exemplary enterprises, but also carries significant meaning in contributing to the realization of major Party and State orientations on building a strong Vietnamese business community with regional and global competitiveness.
Looking back on nearly 40 years since the launch of the Đổi mới (Renovation) process in 1986, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Hung highlighted the remarkable achievements Vietnam has attained. Per capita income has increased more than 67 times, from USD 74 to USD 5,026. Vietnam’s economic openness now ranks among the highest in the world, with total trade value equivalent to nearly 200% of GDP, positioning the country as an important import-export hub in the region and globally.

However, behind these impressive figures lies a reality that must be candidly acknowledged. The FDI sector continues to play a dominant role, while linkages with domestic enterprises particularly local suppliers remain limited. This underscores the urgent need to enhance the internal capacity of Vietnamese enterprises if they are to participate more deeply and sustainably in global value chains.
The year 2025 witnessed significant volatility in the global economy, while also opening up new opportunities as global supply chains undergo strong restructuring. Investment flows today are no longer driven solely by low costs, but increasingly prioritize countries with stable, reliable, flexible, and sustainable supplier ecosystems.
According to the Chairman of VCCI, suppliers are no longer merely links in production chains; they must become strategic partners, working alongside lead firms to improve product quality and added value, and serving as a “shield” to enhance the economy’s resilience to external shocks.
By organizing the Outstanding Vietnamese Supplier selection program, VCCI seeks to identify and honor suppliers that have achieved positive business results in recent years, thereby contributing to the formation of a sufficiently strong domestic supplier force capable of deeper participation in global value chains.

To arrive at the list of 27 honored enterprises, the program conducted a rigorous and objective evaluation process, screening hundreds of interested and registered companies. The assessment criteria focused on three key pillars: operational capacity and production efficiency; technological capability and innovation; and value chain governance and sustainable development.
On that basis, the honored enterprises clearly demonstrate that Vietnamese companies are fully capable of meeting the stringent standards of global markets. The title “Outstanding Vietnamese Supplier 2025” represents a great honor, while also entailing significant responsibility for each enterprise in its journey to enhance position and competitiveness.
In the context of complex geopolitics, increasing automation in manufacturing, stricter green standards, and the trend toward “servitization” in industry, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Hung emphasized that opportunities are reserved for enterprises ready to change and upgrade themselves. Vietnamese businesses can no longer merely sell physical products; they must integrate design, technical solutions, services, and customer experience. This represents an opportunity to move from a subcontracting role to becoming indispensable strategic partners.

Entering 2026, a pivotal period as Vietnam strives to transition toward a high-income country in an inclusive manner, the challenges ahead will be substantial. Business success will also carry a social mission: creating quality jobs, contributing to social welfare, and elevating the position of Vietnamese people in the digital and green economy.
With that significance, Chairman Ho Sy Hung expressed confidence that, with existing internal strength and strong aspirations, Vietnamese suppliers will continue to write new proud chapters for the national economy. Every step forward by enterprises is a building block toward a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
VCCI reaffirms its commitment to remain a trusted companion and a bridge between the business community, the Government, and international partners; to promote trade facilitation, capacity-building, digital transformation, and green transition. The Outstanding Vietnamese Supplier selection program is an integral part of that long-term commitment.
