The Hai Phong Business Association, in coordination with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) – Northern Coastal Region Branch and the Tuyen Quang Business Association, organized a hands-on training program entitled “Applying AI to Enhance Management and Executive Capacity for Business Associations.”
Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of VCCI, delivers remarks at the event.
Not only businesses but also organizations are facing growing pressure to innovate their operating models in order to adapt to an increasingly volatile business environment. In this context, AI is emerging as a “digital assistant” capable of processing information, synthesizing data, preparing reports and optimizing many management processes that traditionally require significant time and human resources.
In recent years, the Hai Phong Business Association in particular, and Hai Phong City in general, have consistently prioritized training activities and knowledge updates for the business community, especially regarding technological trends that have the potential to significantly transform management and administration.
Commenting on the training program, Mr. Tran Van Thang, President of the Hai Phong Business Association, stated:
“The Hai Phong Business Association has proactively collaborated with VCCI’s Northern Coastal Region Branch to regularly organize training programs, seminars and knowledge-sharing sessions on artificial intelligence (AI), helping business associations and enterprises stay updated on the latest technology trends in management and administration.”
Mr. Tran Van Thang, President of the Hai Phong Business Association.
According to Mr. Thang, through this program, participants not only gained access to fundamental knowledge about AI but were also guided on how to apply the technology in the practical operations of associations and enterprises. The event provided an opportunity for associations to exchange experiences, learn from effective models and gradually strengthen governance capacity amid the accelerating digital transformation process.
Looking more broadly, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh, Vice President of VCCI, highly appreciated the initiative of the Hai Phong Business Association in partnering with VCCI to organize AI training programs for local business associations. He noted that the proactive adoption of AI by business associations is a positive sign, reflecting their willingness to innovate in response to rapid change. Such activities are particularly meaningful in helping associations improve governance capabilities and adapt to new requirements in the context of digital transformation and deeper international integration.
The Vice President of VCCI further remarked:
“Today, we are living in an era characterized by rapid and unpredictable change. The remarkable advancement of science and technology, particularly in artificial intelligence, semiconductors and digital technologies, is driving profound transformations around the world.
Observing the pace of innovation in global technology hubs such as Silicon Valley in California, United States, and engaging with leading technology corporations, it is clear that competitive advantages are increasingly determined by the ability to access and master technology. This is precisely why Vietnam’s business community must proactively embrace change to avoid being left behind.”
Nguyen Huu Thap, Member of the VCCI Executive Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Business Law Association and President of the Tuyen Quang Business Association, shares practical insights during the training session.
As the keynote trainer of the program, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thap, Member of the VCCI Executive Committee, Vice President of the Vietnam Business Law Association and President of the Tuyen Quang Business Association, shared extensive experience and practical knowledge on promoting the application of artificial intelligence in the management and operation of business associations.
Rather than approaching AI from a purely theoretical perspective, Mr. Thap focused on real-world situations commonly encountered by business associations in their daily operations. According to him, AI should not be viewed as a technology for demonstration purposes but as a practical tool for everyday work.
He emphasized that AI presents an opportunity for business associations to transform their operations into more professional, streamlined and efficient models. Instead of spending excessive time on administrative tasks, association staff can leverage AI to process data, consolidate information, prepare reports and support members, thereby allocating more resources to networking activities, policy advocacy and business support.
Mr. Thap stressed that when working with AI, the key is not simply understanding the technology but knowing how to assign tasks effectively. Prompting AI should follow the principle of the “five rights”: the right role, the right context, the right task, the right output format and the right verification process. The quality of AI-generated results depends heavily on how instructions are provided. When tasks are clearly defined, AI can become a highly effective assistant for association leaders and secretariats.
Beyond AI adoption, participants at the program also emphasized the importance of developing a robust innovation ecosystem to support sustainable business growth.
According to the Vice President of VCCI, countries with advanced technology sectors require not only cutting-edge technologies but also a comprehensive ecosystem that includes supportive policies, abundant investment capital and close collaboration among universities, research institutes and businesses. In many cases, innovative ideas and startup projects developed within universities can access funding and receive support for successful commercialization.
Representatives of business associations and enterprises raise questions about challenges encountered when applying AI in their work.
The Vice President of VCCI also highlighted:
“Drawing from these experiences, I have discussed with Hai Phong’s leadership the need to build a strong innovation ecosystem capable of supporting businesses. The city should establish mechanisms that encourage, accompany and facilitate the nurturing, development and commercialization of innovative ideas. This will help create a dynamic startup community, generate new growth drivers for Hai Phong and contribute positively to national development.”
To ensure that technology truly creates value, a favorable environment must be established in which businesses are encouraged to innovate, launch startups and develop commercially viable products. This, in turn, will form the foundation for a more dynamic and innovative business community, enabling stronger contributions to the socio-economic development of Hai Phong in particular and Vietnam as a whole in the years ahead.
