VinFast, the EV subsidiary of Vietnam’s conglomerate Vingroup, has surpassed Tesla to be the best-selling battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand in the Phillipines in the first quarter of 2026.
According to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), VinFast sold 1,171 units in the market during January-March, a significant increase from 335 vehicles in the same period last year, or up nearly 250%.

As a result, the Vietnamese EV manufacturer now holds more than 50% BEV market share among all CAMPI and TMA brands in the Philippines.
Tesla dropped to second in BEV sales in Q1, with 469 units sold, up 122.3% year-on-year.
In Q1, as many as 11,800 electrified vehicles were sold in the Philippines, up 36.2% year-on-year and making up 11.17% of the total vehicle sales.
CAMPI president, Jose Maria Atienza, said that the upward trend is mainly driven by users’ growing understanding and acceptance of electrified technologies.
“Rising oil prices will surely influence the Filipino motorists driving and vehicle purchase behavior,” he added. “This will not only accelerate the preference for electrified vehicles but may also highlight the practicality of energy efficient vehicles like smaller and lower displacement cars.”
In Vietnam, VinFast continues to lead the auto market by after delivering 53,684 vehicles in Q1, up 53% from a year earlier. In March, it sold 27,609 electrified vehicles. The firm targets to deliver 300,000 units this year.
