Vietnam’s import and export turnover in July 2026 reached $109.75 billion, up 5.3% from the previous month and 33.0% compared to the same period last year, according to data released on August 3 by the National Statistics Office.

For the first seven months of 2026, the total trade value reached $659.58 billion, representing a 28.1% year-on-year increase. While exports maintained a growth rate of 21.7%, imports grew at a faster pace of 34.8%. This growth disparity shifted the trade balance into a deficit of $20.52 billion, primarily driven by rising demand for raw materials, machinery, and equipment to support production and investment activities.

To the $319.53 billion export turnover,  the foreign-invested (FDI) sector contributed $255.89 billion or 80.1%, representing a 26.4% increase year-on-year. In contrast, the domestic economic sector contributed $63.64 billion or 19.9%, with a year-on-year growth rate of 5.8%.

During this period, 31 commodity groups achieved export turnovers exceeding $1 billion each, contributing 93.0% of the total export value. Notably, seven of these categories surpassed $10 billion each, accounting for 69.7%.

In terms of product structure, the processing industry remained dominant with a value of $287.91 billion, making up 90.1% of the total turnover. Other sectors included agro-forestry products at $22.79 billion (7.1%), seafood at $6.86 billion (2.2%), and fuels and minerals at $1.97 billion (0.6%).

Import turnover for the first seven months of 2026 reached $340.05 billion, to which the domestic sector contributed $92.14 billion (up 24.1%), while $247.91 billion came from the FDI sector (up 39.2%).

There were 40 imported items with a turnover exceeding $1 billion each, accounting for 93.0% of the total import value, with two items exceeding the $10 billion mark and making up 52.0% of the total.

The structure of imports was heavily focused on production materials, which were valued at $319.95 billion and accounted for 94.1% of the total import iturnover. Within this group, machinery, equipment, and spare parts accounted for 56.9%, while raw materials, fuels, and supplies made up 37.2%. Consumer goods accounted for only 5.9% of the total, valued at $20.1 billion.

Regarding major trading partners, the United States remained Vietnam’s largest export market with a turnover of $104.7 billion, while China was its largest source of imports, reaching $138.6 billion.
