A bicycle tour to promote National Trademarks

The National Trademark Week observed its 11th anniversary on April 20th and marked 16 years since the Prime Minister approved a National Trademark Program to promote national images and trademarks.

Businesses build national trademarks

Since 2008, Vietnam had 30 national trademarks. The figure increased to 100 trademarks in 2018. Vietnam’s economy has opened wide and with higher production capacity, deeper and integration in to the global economy and an annual export growth rate at 16%. Last year Vietnam earned 243 billion USD from export. The result was attributed to businesses who are building Vietnamese trademarks internationally.

Than Duc Viet, General Director of Garment 10 Corporation, said: “Garment 10 is a national trademark. Its strength is the contribution of generations of employees who have made the quality of Garment 10.”

Tran Phu Electric Mechanical Joint Stock Company considers building a national trademark a core task which closely attaches to national development periods.

In the advert of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the Company has updated and applied advanced technology in production every year to produce high quality and safe products while ensuring energy saving. 

Deputy General Director Do Thi Thu Tra said “We have followed our plan over the past 35 years to take a pioneering view and dare to take challenges. We have applied advanced technology in production to produce high quality, safe products for market and consumers. We have created a customer network to offer them the best values.”

Sustainable, strong national trademarks

Brand Finance last year released its annual report on the world’s 100 leading nation brands, and Vietnam raised 2 places to 43rd place. Its brand value is estimated at US$235 billion, up US$32 billion from the previous year. The global brand valuation consultancy firm said a “strong” national brand denotes a highly attractive environment for investment, encouraging inward investment, adding value to exports, and attracting tourists.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will submit to the Prime Minister a draft Vietnamese National Trademark Program in the new era. 

Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Department for Trade Promotion, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said the National Trademark Program will combine branded products, investment attraction, and culture and tourism promotion. 

He added “To renew the National Trademark Program, steps will be taken to raise public awareness on the importance of trademark. We will focus on promoting Vietnamese branded products domestically and internationally.”

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will work with diplomatic and tourism sectors to market Vietnamese products abroad.
