On September 15, the General department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) asked HCM City Customs Department to take samples of some imported Vero Cell vaccine batches for verification of active ingredients and contents at centres for testing vaccines of the Ministry of Health.

According to the GDVC, some batches of Covid-19 Vero Cell vaccine imported by Saigon Pharmaceutical Company Limited under License 7929/QLD-KD dated July 8, 2021 issued by the Drug Administration of Vietnam showed the active ingredient, content/concentration stated on the License is 6.5U of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus but those stated on the test sheet as 7.2U; 7.4U; 7.8U or 6.9U.
The GDVC requires the HCM City Customs Department to take samples for verification in accordance with the provisions of the 2016 Pharmaceutical Law.
If the verification results are different from those in the import permit, the local customs department must report to the GDVC to work with the Ministry of Health.
