Border guards in the central province of Quang Tri worked together with relevant units to seize a huge amount of smuggled goods from Laos.

Accordingly, at 22:00 on November 25, the police noticed a suspicious wooden boat travelling from Laos to Vietnam as they were on duty at Se Pon river, Lao Bao Town, Huong Hoa district.

Launching a search on the vehicle, the police discovered 60 bags of sugars, weighing a total of 3 tonnes, and 1,200 bottles of Heineken.

At the police station, the boat’s driver Nguyen Xuan Cuong, 18, was unable to provide any relevant papers for the shipments.

A further investigation into the smuggled haul is now underway.
