Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc voiced his hope that the Republic of Korea -Vietnam Friendship Association would promote its role in contributing to the New Southern Policy, initiated by the Korean President during a meeting with President of the Association Choi Young Joo on November 27 in Seoul.

PM Phuc hailed the New Southern Policy, which focuses on Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam, affirming that the Vietnamese Government, ministries and agencies always offer favorable conditions for Korean investors to run successful operations in the country. 

The relationship between the two countries is growing steadily across a variety of fields over the past three decades as a results of the great efforts and contributions of generations of the Association's leaders and members, who are very knowledgeable about Vietnam and have fine sentiments towards the Southeast Asian nation, he said.

The Vietnamese cabinet leader suggested the Association support the Vietnamese women married to Korean men to soon integrate into the local society as well as Vietnamese students studying in the RoK

Vietnam is stepping up bilateral cooperation on trade and investment with the RoK, by making two-way trade turnover account for half of the trade turnover between ASEAN and the RoK, and helping the RoK retain its position as the top investor in Vietnam, Phuc said while hoping that Korean corporations and enterprises will pour more investment into Vietnam.

He also proposed strengthening people-to-people exchanges in the lead up to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties by 2022 and praised the important role of the Association in boosting mutual knowledge. 

For his part, Choi Young Joo pledged his best efforts in assisting the Vietnamese living and working in the RoK, stating that his association will join hands with other RoK relevant agencies to take more practical and effective support measures in the time ahead.
