During the meeting, the leaders hailed the sound development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation over the years and agreed the outstanding development achievements in each country alongside the combined strengths between the two sides have provided a firm foundation for them to continue fostering their ties in the future.
PM Phuc affirmed Vietnam’s recognition of great attention to its partnership with Romania and praised the contributions of Romania’s Chamber of Deputies to the vigorous growth of bilateral ties.
He was appreciative of support from Romania, including the Chamber of Deputies, towards speeding up of the signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in its role as part of the current EU presidency. The Vietnamese cabinet leader also applauded bilateral partnerships across a variety of fields, and hoped to continue getting support from Romania in the time to come.
PM Phuc suggested Romania’s Chamber of Deputies pay greater attention to intensifying high-level meetings and exchanges, experience sharing between the two legislatures, and partnership among localities.
On the occasion, PM Phuc conveyed National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s invitation to President of the Chamber of Deputies Liviu Dragnea to visit Vietnam. The invitation was graciously accepted and Liviu Dragnea pledged to make the visit at a convenient time.
The President of the Chamber of Deputies, in turn, highlighted the visit of PM Phuc as an important advancement in bilateral ties.
Romania’s Chamber of Deputies greatly values the Vietnam-Romania traditional friendship, he stressed while welcoming the positive developments in bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
The chamber fully supports the EVFTA and EVIPA, which are expected to be signed during the rotating EU Presidency of Romania, Liviu Dragnea told his guest.
He said now is the right time for both sides to step up bilateral cooperation in fields of each other’s potential and strength, such as economy-trade, oil and gas, agriculture, education and labour, especially in the sustainable management of water resources in the Mekong River and Danube subregions.
After the meeting, PM Phuc, his spouse, and Vietnamese delegation left Bucharest for Prague to begin an official visit to the Czech Republic at the invitation of its Prime Minister Andrej Babis.
