As of 8am on February 21, all suspected cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) that had previously been put into quarantine in Da Nang had received a discharge from hospital while no new suspected cases had been reported in the city.

Da Nang has moved to monitor and isolate 155 suspected cases of the COVID-19 infection, including 122 Vietnamese and 33 foreigners.

At present, all 155 suspected cases have been discharged from hospital following the Da Nang Lung Hospital releasing the two final cases involving one Vietnamese national and one foreigner on February 20.

Da Nang has yet to record any positive cases of the COVID-19, while the city makes moves to continue strengthening surveillance activities on seven potential people who remain in a normal health condition.

All of the patients were tested for suspected symptoms, fever, and underwent a lung scan before being discharged. In addition to this, each case followed a standard quarantine procedure which largely involved putting people in quarantine, monitoring symptoms daily, and prescribing antibiotics when necessary.

Patients were finally discharged from hospital after recording negative test results, said Dr. Le Thanh Phuc, Director of Da Nang Lung Hospital.

Between February 19 and February 20, Da Nang welcomed a total of 100 flights and three cruise ships, with 6,952 people undergoing strict monitoring.

Over the course of three consecutive days, Da Nang did not record any new suspected cases of the COVID-19 infection with no additional patients needing to be put into isolation or be monitored.
