The Ministry of Health confirmed 143 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday evening, bringing the national caseload to 7,107. 

The latest cases include a 33-year-old woman brought home from Hungary on May 7.

All the others were recorded in HCMC (49), Bac Giang (44), Bac Ninh (28), Ha Noi (18), Da Nang (one), and Ha Noi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases (two).

Among the national patient tally, 5,604 are community infection cases, including 4,034 documented in 34 cities and provinces since April 27 when the new wave of COVID-19 resurgence began.

The two northern province of Bac Giang remains the epicenter of the current COVID-19 wave, accounting for over half of the total cases over the reviewed period.

As many as 2,950 patients have recovered and exited hospitals while the death toll stood at 47./.
