The Ministry of Health confirmed 85 new COVID-19 cases on Monday evening, bringing the total cases on Monday to 7,321.

The latest patients include three imported cases, two of them were repatriated from Japan on May 29 and the other returned to Viet Nam via the southern borderline on May 11.

The rest are community infection cases recorded in Bac Giang (43), Bac Ninh (34), Binh Duong (three), Ha Noi (one), and Tra Vinh (one).

These cases take the total patients on Monday to 214.

The southern province of Tra Vinh became the latest locality hit by the fourth COVID-19 wave which emerged on April 27.

Bac Giang still remains the epicenter of the current COVID-19 resurgence, with 2,252 cases out of 4,245 over the reviewed period.

The same day, the ministry also reported that 80 patients were discharged from hospitals, sending the total recoveries to 3,030./.
