Police became suspicious of a vehicle travelling close by to the Cambodia-Vietnam border area.
Upon noticing the authorities, the two suspects within the car stopped their vehicle and attempted to flee. However, their attempt failed and both suspects were later arrested.
When conducting a search of the vehicle the police seized nearly 10,000 packets of cigarettes branded Hero and Jet.
Two suspects were identified as Phan Trung Hieu, 38, of Ca Mau province and Vo Thanh Long, 22, of Kien Giang province.
The suspects admitted to transporting large numbers of smuggled cigarettes from Cambodia to Vietnam to sell.
The authorities are now investigating the case further.
