Vietnamese businesses are being urged to strengthen logistics capabilities, adopt AI-powered technologies and stay agile as shifting trade policies and global supply chain disruptions reshape cross-border commerce, speakers said at the Gori Global Logistics Summit 2026 in Ho Chi Minh City on July 31.

The event, themed "The Future of Cross-Border Logistics & AI-Powered Shipping," was co-hosted by Gori, a US-based provider of digital transformation solutions for supply chain and logistics operations, and NTQ, a global technology and digital transformation partner.

Nearly 100 representatives from Vietnamese businesses joined industry experts to discuss emerging trends in logistics, e-commerce and technology, while exploring strategies to improve international competitiveness.

Mr. Robert Raines Jr., former Senior Executive at the United States Postal Service (USPS), said import regulations and customs clearance requirements are becoming increasingly stringent. He also highlighted that, alongside traditional ocean freight, air freight has become an increasingly economical and practical option for smaller parcel shipments.

Representatives from NTQ, including Chairman Pham Thai Son and Business Development Director Lanh Hai Long, discussed how technology can strengthen operational capabilities across global supply chains.

They outlined approaches including building unified digital platforms, standardizing data collection and integrating AI solutions to improve forecasting, analytics and the automation of manual processes across the logistics journey, from warehouse management to goods distribution.

NTQ also showcased solutions jointly developed with Gori to help logistics and e-commerce businesses improve operational efficiency and respond more effectively to changes across the supply chain.

During discussions with experts from domestic and international companies, speakers noted that Vietnam continues to benefit from a dynamic e-commerce market and rapidly expanding on-demand manufacturing capabilities. However, they identified the unpredictability of international markets, including frequent changes in US tariff policies and regulations, as one of the sector's biggest challenges.

To remain competitive, businesses were encouraged to stay informed about policy developments, invest in technology, strengthen cost control and shipment tracking, and maintain the flexibility to adapt to evolving market conditions.
