French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Twitter Thursday that his country has decided to donate 670,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses to Viet Nam via the COVAX Facility.
The vaccine is expected to arrive in Viet Nam in late August or early September, according to the French Embassy in Viet Nam.
Viet Nam is the second country in Asia to receive emergency vaccine support from France after Indonesia.
The vaccines are part of France’s commitment to provide at least five percent (around 30 million) to support developing countries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Government of Hungary decided to gift 100,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses and 100,000 sets of test kits to help Viet Nam fight COVID-19./.
