Local agriculture workers in Kim Dinh village of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province have begun making every effort to care for and collect flowers to supply local markets ahead of the Lunar New Year festival, known locally as Tet, marking the start of the year’s largest harvest season.

Currently, there are approximately 100 households from the village who plant flowers, serving to attract a large number of buyers from both the locality and nearby provinces.

The flowers are blooming on time ahead of Tet due to favourable weather conditions.

According to a local farmer, this year has seen the price of flowers remain stable, therefore their items have almost been fully booked by traders.

Thousands of flower pots are prepared to be collected as a means of supplying local markets.

The village has thousands of varieties of flowers and plants which are carefully tended specifically to serve the Tet market.

Traders have ordered approximately 90% of flowers for Tet.

Planting large daisies typically brings in a higher income for farmers. A couple of big daisies can cost between VND400,000 to tens of millions of VND.

The price of a small daisy pot with a height of 40 cm is VND200,000.

A pot containing other flowers costs between VND20,000 and VND25,000.

This year will see the village supply 20 different types of flowers to the market.

Sunflowers are among the most popular flowers in Kim Dinh village.

According to a farmer named Nguyen Trong Tu, he has invested a sum of VND300 million to plant 30,000 pots of flowers.

He anticipates that his investment will yield a profit of nearly VND300 million.

Taking care of flowers requires a meticulous eye for detail, along with great skill.
