The IIMTF 2019 attracted the participation of approximately 1,000 exhibitors from 21 countries and territories worldwide, including Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Egypt, Malaysia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, China, and Vietnam.
A wide range of innovative new products were put on display such as handicrafts, electronics, furniture, food, automotive, education, and information technology items.
The IIMTF 2019 saw a number of seminars take place, allowing businesses to share their experience and exchange co-operation opportunities. The trade running until the end of December 25, attracted roughly 800,000 visitors.
The event also provided an ideal venue for domestic firms to seek business opportunities and meet with potential customers.
According to figures released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and India during the first 11 months of the year estimated to stand at US$10.30 billion, up 3.6 per cent against the same period last year. The nation’s trade surplus with India during the reviewed period hit a figure of US$2.2 billion.
Most notably, the exports of fine art and handicraft items, rattan, sedge, and carpet products exceeded US$10 million for the first time, representing a rise of 134.7 per cent compared to last year's corresponding period.
Although turnover remained relatively modest, the handicraft sector has served to generate plenty of jobs for workers in rural areas.
