Local authorities and philanthropists across the country have come together to organise Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations specifically for underprivileged children, offering them an array of festive gifts whilst putting on unique art performances for them to enjoy.
Hanoi’s Department of Education and Training provides a range of gifts to 1,000 disabled and poor students from Nguyen Dinh Chieu primary and secondary school, Xa Dan school, and Binh Minh primary school, with the presents costing a total of VND160 million.

Local businesses also provide assistance in order to give 1,000 gifts to children in unfortunate circumstances from the mountainous commune of Hoa Bac in Hoa Vang district, along with child patients at the Oncology Hospital in the central city of Da Nang. Each gift is worth between VND200,000 and VND700,000, with the presents including cash, candy, milk, and stationery items to be used in school.

Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam hosts a lion dance festival to provide excitement for local children in their Full Moon Festival celebrations.

The administration of Hoi An also host a lantern parade specifically for children.

Ahead of the start of the Mid-Autumn Festival the administration of Hai Duong city present a total of 125 gifts to orphans, in addition to handicapped and poor children, while also putting on special art performances.

Can Tho’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs holds an annual Full Moon Festival celebration specifically for underprivileged ethnic children from O Mon district. The organisers hand out over 600 gifts costing VND200,000 each, 600 mooncakes, and 600 lanterns for children as they join in the parade.

More than 700 ethnic pupils from Nam Ban commune in Nam Nhun district of the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau enjoy a Full Moon Festival put on by philanthropists from Hanoi.

In order to share their difficulties, Hanoi’s philanthropists through the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) raise funds and deliver gifts to the children, including vital school supplies.

Moon cakes and lanterns are an indispensable part of the festive celebrations.
