Promoting Vietnamese goods, expanding market

During the peak month, the city organises a wide range of promotional and trade promotion activities, supply and demand matching events, and Vietnamese goods fairs; while also expanding initiatives such as Vietnamese goods sales points, streets prioritising Vietnamese goods, spaces showcasing OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, and encouraging product consumption through e-commerce platforms.

The campaign has also been promoted at the grassroots level through seminars, forums, awareness-raising conferences, Vietnamese Goods Days, and experiential activities introducing Vietnamese products in residential areas, schools, agencies, and organisations.

According to Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, the campaign has achieved numerous positive results over its more than 15 years of implementation, particularly during the past five years under Directive No. 03-CT/TW. Vietnamese products have increasingly strengthened their presence in modern retail and distribution networks. OCOP products, outstanding rural industrial products, and signature local products have gradually established a foothold in the market.

Across supermarkets, shopping centres, convenience stores, and traditional markets, Vietnamese products account for between 70% and 90% of goods on sale. In some retail chains, including Co.opmart, Danavimart, and WinMart, the proportion of Vietnamese products exceeds 90%.

DAVIFOOD Viet Nam Technology Joint Stock Company, based in Ngu Hanh Son Ward, offers a range of signature Da Nang products, including Kinbe beef jerky, seasoned grilled rice crackers, and crispy roasted coconut, which are now available in supermarkets, speciality stores, and distribution outlets across the country.

Tran Thi Viet Lien, Deputy Director of DAVIFOOD, said: “Our products are mainly consumed in the domestic market. This is both a sign and a motivation for our company to continue improving sustained investment in product quality, packaging, and production capacity.”

To support businesses, cooperatives and OCOP entities, Da Nang has implemented various activities, including preferential credit support and promoting green production, the circular economy, and innovation.

The city has continued to effectively implement a range of grassroots initiatives, including Vietnamese goods fairs, OCOP sales points, programmes bringing Vietnamese products to rural and mountainous areas and to industrial workers, as well as livestreams promoting local products. The city has also introduced a policy to support the development of the OCOP for the 2026-2030 period.

In addition, businesses and cooperatives have proactively innovated technologies, digital transformation, and brand development as well as enhanced their competitiveness. These achievements have made a significant contribution to boosting production, expanding the domestic market, creating jobs, raising people's incomes, and supporting the city's economic growth.

Enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnamese products

However, besides these advantages, businesses are facing a number of new demands and challenges. Competition from imported goods, the rapid growth of e-commerce and the digital economy, and consumers' rising expectations regarding product quality, traceability, and sustainable development are creating challenges that require attention and solutions.

Entering a new phase of development, Da Nang aims to become a regional and national hub for the economy, trade, logistics, tourism, innovation, and digital transformation.

To achieve this goal, Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Fatherland Front Committee, emphasised that besides the efforts of authorities at all levels, the support of businesses and cooperatives in improving product quality, building strong brands, and developing sustainable consumption markets is necessary.

Da Nang currently has 552 OCOP products, including 184 products from 125 cooperatives and 6 cooperative groups. Among 777 active cooperatives, the Da Nang Cooperative Alliance has supported them in innovating production methods, adopting science and technology, building brands, and improving traceability. Through a range of training programmes, many cooperatives have strengthened their capabilities, gradually developed products that meet OCOP, VietGAP, and food safety standards, thereby contributing to enhancing the products’ value and reinforcing the image of high-quality Vietnamese goods among consumers.

Looking ahead, Nguyen Xuan Vu, Director of the Da Nang Cooperative Alliance, said: “We hope to receive support in trade promotion, brand development, and digital transformation for cooperative products. We also hope the city will serve as a bridge to strengthen cooperation with businesses, supermarkets, and shopping centres to build sustainable supply chains for Vietnamese products.”

Many small and medium-sized enterprises said they lacked highly qualified personnel and hoped the authorities would provide guidance and advice on administrative procedures from the outset to reduce both the time and cost involved.

Le Thi Kim Phuong, Director of the Da Nang Department of Industry and Trade, called on businesses and cooperatives to continue standardising their products, packaging, and designs, while actively participating in trade promotion programmes. She also offered distributors and modern retailers to provide favourable conditions for Da Nang products to be distributed and displayed on supermarket and retail shelves.

“The city will continue to complete its support mechanisms and policies to create a more favourable environment for production, business, brand building, market expansion, and stronger competitiveness for Da Nang products,” Le Thi Kim Phuong said.
