British Ambassador to Vietnam Gareth Ward has welcomed around 500 guests to mark the 93rd birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, which British Embassies use as the United Kingdom’s National Day.

The event took place at Hanoi Museum on April 24. This is also the occasion to celebrate the strong partnership between the UK and Vietnam over the year.
The guests of honour were To Anh Dung, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Bui The Duy, Vice Minister of Science and Technology.
Ambassador Gareth Ward said, “It is a great pleasure and honour for me to welcome you all to the 93rd birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This birthday party is to showcase many elements of the relationship between Vietnam and the UK.”
The programme continued with a joint video message by Rt Hon Mark Field MP - Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Natalie Black - Trade Commissioner for Asia and the Pacific and British Embassy in Hanoi affirming the UK’s commitment in building partnerships in many sectors in Vietnam.
In the video, Phung Xuan Nha - Minister of Education and Training, To Anh Dung - Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ha Cong Tuan - Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Nguyen Truong Son - Vice Minister of Health, shared about the close and productive exchanges between the two countries and sent their best wishes to Her Majesty the Queen, the Royal Family and the British Government on this occasion.
The Queen’s Birthday Party in Vietnam is themed charity this year as Britain has a long history of charitable activity and giving. Right at the party, the guests had the opportunity to interact and look at exhibitions displaying the work of five British Charities in Vietnam, including Newborns Vietnam, Facing the World, Saigon Children Charity, Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, and Mine Advisory Group.
