Around 42.6% of businesses operating in Vietnam reported profits in 2025, up 5.5% from the previous year, according to a report by the Ministry of Finance presented at a Government meeting with the business community on July 18.

As of June 30, 2026, Vietnam had nearly 1,062,000 active businesses, with total registered capital exceeding VND30.605 quadrillion (approximately $1.17 trillion). The business sector currently contributes more than 60% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP), employs around 17.6 million workers and accounts for the majority of Vietnam's import and export turnover.

Another positive development is the continued increase in both the number of businesses entering the market and the scale of newly registered investment capital.

During the first six months of 2026, nearly 170,000 businesses entered or re-entered the market, an increase of more than 11.2% from the same period last year. This included nearly 111,700 newly established enterprises, up more than 22.5%, and approximately 58,150 businesses resuming operations. On average, nearly 19,000 new businesses were established each month, 1.6 times higher than the monthly average recorded during the 2021–2025 period.

Capital flows into the market also improved significantly. Total registered capital added to the economy by private-sector businesses reached nearly VND3.092 quadrillion, up 11.31% year-on-year.

Newly established businesses registered approximately VND1.353 quadrillion in capital, representing a sharp 64.8% increase from the same period in 2025. Average registered capital per new business reached VND12.22 billion, up 35.7%.

The strong growth in registered capital, together with the rise in average investment per newly established enterprise, suggests that an increasing number of businesses are entering the market with larger investment scales from the outset, signaling stronger private-sector confidence and investment capacity.
