The Ministry of Health has mobilized around 10,000 health workers to take part in the COVID-19 fight in Ho Chi Minh City, said Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long at a meeting on July 7.

The ministry has also set up seven working groups to support Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Dong Thap, Long An and Tien Giang contain COVID-19 outbreaks.
More than 3,300 health workers and medical students from medicinal universities under the ministry were sent to Ho Chi Minh City - the worst hit locality in the current COVID-19 wave.
The southern metropolis has been placed under social distancing in accordance with the Government's Directive No. 15/CT-TTg from May 31.
However, the daily infections keep on rising, particularly in recent days, prompting the city to have decided to apply stricter social distancing rules under the Government’s Directive No. 16 for 15 days, starting from July 9.
