The new store is located at the Dream Home Resident apartment complex in An Hoi Tay ward. It is the first Aeon MaxValu outlet in HCMC and southern Vietnam.
The Aeon MaxValu Dream Home supermarket covers 400 square meters and offers more than 3,000 products, focusing on daily necessities including fresh produce, meat and seafood, ready-to-eat food, dairy products, personal care items, and household goods.
Aeon first introduced the MaxValu supermarket format in Hanoi in 2020 as part of its strategy to diversify retail formats in Vietnam.
The company currently operates around 30 Aeon MaxValu supermarkets across northern Vietnam before expanding the model to HCMC, the country’s largest economic hub.
Aeon has identified Vietnam as its second-most important market after Japan and has prioritized investment in the country as part of its long-term ASEAN growth strategy.
The latest store opening comes as Aeon increases the strategic importance of Vietnam within its regional portfolio.
Under its 2026-2030 business plan, the firm aims to raise annual revenue from Vietnam to more than JPY300 billion ($1.85 billion) by fiscal 2030 from over JPY100 billion in fiscal 2025. The company expects average annual revenue growth of about 25%, while operating profit is projected to increase fourfold during the period.
Vietnam has also become one of Aeon Mall’s best-performing overseas markets.
In fiscal 2025, Aeon Mall’s Vietnam operations generated revenue of JPY18.8 billion ($115.69 million) and operating profit of JPY4.78 billion ($294 million). The profitability exceeded Aeon Mall’s operations in Japan, China, and Cambodia.
Total assets of Aeon Mall Vietnam increased 36.5% year-on-year to JPY175.2 billion ($1.09 billion), reflecting continued investment in new commercial developments.
The latest supermarket opening underscores Aeon’s confidence in Vietnam’s growing consumer market, as rising incomes, rapid urbanization, and expanding middle-class demand continue to support the country’s modern retail sector.
