Speaking at the workshop “Enhancing provincial competitiveness and improving the investment and business environment in Lam Dong province,” President Ho Sy Hung highly appreciated the proactive efforts of the province in reviewing development orientations and improving the investment and business environment after the administrative merger.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Hung – President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)
Since 2025, the merger of administrative units from 63 provinces and cities into 34 has created new development spaces. Lam Dong, formed through the consolidation of Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan, has become the largest province in the country, with a special geographical position as a gateway to the Southwest Highlands, bordering Cambodia, and possessing nearly 200 km of coastline.
Lam Dong gathers sufficient conditions for multi-sector development, including high-tech agriculture, tourism, logistics, industry and energy. With a transport infrastructure system comprising road, rail, aviation and seaports, the province has the potential to become a regional linkage center for the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast.

The workshop “Enhancing provincial competitiveness and improving the investment and business environment of Lam Dong Province” took place on the afternoon of January 9 in Da Lat.
However, according to President Ho Sy Hung, such potential also places very high requirements on the governance and administrative capacity of local authorities. In the new context, the business community no longer views Lam Dong as a single locality, but as a potential regional growth pole.
In the spirit of accompanying the province under the orientation “Unleashing potential, elevating position,” President Ho Sy Hung proposed three key directions.
First, completing the administrative apparatus towards building a dynamic government. The administrative merger aims to streamline the apparatus and enhance management effectiveness. During the transition period, enterprises may be concerned about disruptions in procedures, but this is also an opportunity to build a more professional, friendly and dynamic administrative system. VCCI is ready to share effective governance models and support Lam Dong in developing officials with strong economic understanding.
Second, developing the economy in association with environmental protection and sustainable development. Lam Dong has advantages in high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism and green economic sectors. However, balancing forest and water resource protection with growth and job creation remains a challenge. Improving the investment environment is not only about simplifying procedures but also about building a modern and environmentally friendly business ecosystem.
Third, promoting private sector development and enhancing provincial competitiveness. President Ho Sy Hung emphasized that the private sector is an important driver of growth. Accordingly, it is necessary to improve the business environment in a transparent, stable and predictable manner, identify strategic investors and reform administrative procedures in key sectors.
VCCI is upgrading the Provincial Competitiveness Index and recommended that Lam Dong use this index as a channel to collect feedback from enterprises and adjust policies in a timely manner.
VCCI identifies Lam Dong as an important partner not only for the Central Highlands and the South Central Coast, but also for the whole country. Supporting Lam Dong in improving the investment environment also contributes to forming a new growth pole of the economy in the coming period.
