On August 30th in Hanoi, VCCI organized the 6th Executive Committee Meeting of the 7th term.

This conference evaluated the work done in the first 6 months of 2023 and outlined the tasks for the remaining 6 months. It also announced the personnel assignments for the VCCI Executive Committee for the 2026-2031 term, along with other important tasks.

During this event, the committee members were also briefed on the resolution 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo regarding the development of the Vietnamese business community, the plan for organizing a national meeting of exemplary Vietnamese entrepreneurs, and various business association activities. The objective is to continue innovating, improving the quality and effectiveness of VCCI, and contributing to the country's economic and social development goals.

In his opening speech at the conference, VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong acknowledged that the current economic situation poses many challenges for businesses. Therefore, business associations need to share their concerns and propose recommendations during this event to provide input to the government and the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee. The aim is to find solutions and determine the determination to achieve growth targets in the remaining 6 months of the year.

VCCI Vice Chairman Nguyen Quang Vinh presented a summary of the work done in the first 6 months of the year and outlined the tasks for the remaining 6 months of VCCI. He stated that, in general, all units within the VCCI system had proactively and diligently aligned their functions and responsibilities to carry out activities, and had essentially completed the work for the first 6 months of 2023.

Some notable activities that received significant attention and high praise from the leadership of the Party, the state, and the business community include the announcement of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) for 2022, which assesses the competitiveness capacity at the provincial level, and the inaugural ranking of the Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PGI).

Additionally, VCCI collaborated with the National Assembly, ministries, departments, local authorities, and various organizations to organize numerous large-scale seminars to gather feedback from businesses on important draft laws and dialogue forums. These efforts aimed at resolving difficulties and obstacles faced by businesses in the fields of exports and real estate.

During the first 6 months of the year, VCCI also actively participated in the initiative to review the 10-year implementation of Resolution 09 and drafted a new resolution on building and enhancing the role of the business community in the new phase. Alongside this, VCCI successfully organized annual Business Forums for 2023, the Vietnam Agriculture Development Forum, and workshops in the Mekong Delta region, among other activities.

Vice Chairman of VCCI stated: "In a general assessment of the first six months of the year, key and focal tasks have been implemented according to plan and have achieved good results. The work in contributing to the formulation of policies and laws, as well as improving the business environment, has yielded commendable outcomes. We have seen a 46.6% increase in the number of members participating in conferences and a 116% increase in the number of delegates."

"The membership activities have seen significant changes, with a notable increase in the number of new members, up by 72% compared to the same period last year. Several initiatives related to the six key task groups in the three strategic breakthroughs have been gradually implemented. The progress of work in the first six months is estimated to have reached 48.73% of the set targets," Mr. Nguyễn Quang Vinh emphasized.

Regarding the tasks for the remaining six months of the year, Mr. Nguyen Quang Vinh mentioned that VCCI will continue to execute the directives and resolutions of the Party and the government. An important task is to continue collaborating with the Central Party Office to report to the Politburo on the results of the ten-year review of the implementation of Resolution 09. Furthermore, VCCI will propose the issuance of a new resolution to promote and leverage the role of the business community in the new phase.

Furthermore, they played a vital role in representing the business community in providing input for policy and legal framework development, implementing resolutions of the Party Central Committee on economic and social development, and organizing regional and sub-regional linkage activities. These efforts focused on implementing cooperation agreements between VCCI and provinces such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Hai Duong. They also involved initiating and executing programs to support localities in promoting international trade and investment in key areas.

In addition, there will be ongoing efforts to streamline the organizational structure, promote the ethical and cultural values of Vietnamese entrepreneurs, actively run the Vietnam Entrepreneurship Song Composition Contest, and implement and evaluate the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) for 2023.

Mr. Vinh emphasized that in the last six months of the year, VCCI will organize many significant and widely influential events, such as the announcement of the Top 100 Sustainable Enterprises in 2023, the 10th Vietnam Sustainable Business Forum, the Vietnam Investment Policy Forum 2023, the Media Forum alongside businesses for a thriving and happy Vietnam, and celebrations marking Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day on October 13th.

During the conference, leaders and representatives of business association members also discussed important activities of VCCI in 2023 and shared difficulties in business operations and legal issues. Through these discussions, they aimed to identify solutions and recommendations for central government agencies to address these challenges.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, shared his thoughts at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien, Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission, acknowledged that both the domestic and international economies face numerous challenges, making business operations difficult. Therefore, he expressed his hope that VCCI and business associations would submit more specialized reports on industry-specific issues to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the economic landscape.

In addition, the leadership of the Central Economic Commission also expressed their desire for continued close cooperation with VCCI in soliciting feedback from the business community to serve the review of Resolution 10. They also expressed expectations for the role of VCCI in the task of formulating the 2030 business strategy and the national entrepreneur training program.

Summarizing the conference, VCCI Chairman Pham Tan Cong highly appreciated the noteworthy recommendations in the current economic situation, particularly the interest shown by the Central Economic Commission in creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurs' development. The support from the Party and the Government will serve as a foundation for VCCI and the Vietnamese business community to achieve new achievements in the future.
