On January 30 in Hanoi, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a working session with the Vietnam Association of Private Hospitals (VAOPH) to exchange views and gather feedback on the proposal to establish the Private Healthcare Business Council, with a development orientation for the 2026–2030 period and a vision toward 2050.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Hung, President of VCCI, emphasized that private healthcare is an important constituent of the national healthcare system and is playing an increasingly prominent role in providing healthcare services to the public.
According to the President of VCCI, the establishment of the Private Healthcare Business Council aims to create a representative focal point to connect private healthcare enterprises, while promoting policy dialogue and contributing to the removal of institutional barriers in the development process.

At the working session, VCCI representatives presented the orientation for establishing the Private Healthcare Business Council and implementing the Private Healthcare Development Scheme for the 2026–2030 period. This content was presented by Mr. Dau Anh Tuan, Member of the Standing Committee, Deputy Secretary General and Head of the Legal Department of VCCI.

Accordingly, the Council is expected to focus on key task groups such as participating in the development and improvement of policies and laws; training and enhancing governance capacity for private healthcare enterprises; investment promotion, business networking and international integration; as well as communication and promotion of private healthcare sector development.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van De, President of the Vietnam Association of Private Hospitals, stated that private healthcare needs to be placed in its proper position within the national healthcare system. The Association proposed studying the development of a national-level private healthcare development scheme, with the coordinated participation of ministries, sectors and localities, in order to create a sufficiently strong policy foundation for the sector’s sustainable development.

Many delegates agreed that mobilizing social resources is necessary; however, to ensure effectiveness and sustainability, appropriate and transparent mechanisms are required, along with a certain level of support from the State.
Concluding the working session, VCCI President Ho Sy Hung stated that VCCI would fully take on board the comments and recommendations from the Vietnam Association of Private Hospitals and other participants, and continue to refine the proposal in line with the Party’s guidelines, the State’s laws and policies, and the practical requirements for private healthcare development in the new period.
