On the afternoon of August 11, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a launching ceremony for the 2026 “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs – Thanh Giong Cup” honoring program and introduced a series of events to mark Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day on October 13.

Honoring Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs in the New Era

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Hoang Quang Phong, VCCI Vice President, recalled an important milestone more than 20 years ago. At the proposal of the VCCI President, on September 20, 2004, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai signed Decision No. 990/QD-TTg on Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day, officially designating October 13 every year as a day dedicated to the Vietnamese business community.

Since then, on the occasion of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day, meaningful activities have been organized by ministries, sectors, localities and the business community, including initiatives to honor pioneering entrepreneurs on the economic front.

In 2026, the Ceremony to honor and confer the “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs – Thanh Giong Cup” 2026 title will be one of the meaningful activities in the series of events that VCCI plans to organize to mark Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day.

According to Mr. Hoang Quang Phong, VCCI Vice President, the “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs – Thanh Giong Cup” is a prestigious title that VCCI has annually selected since 2005 to recognize entrepreneurs with outstanding achievements in production and business; those who pioneer innovation; fulfill their social responsibilities; build corporate culture; comply with the law; and make positive contributions to the country’s socio-economic development.

This year, VCCI will continue implementing the selection program with a number of new features, aiming to select approximately 100 outstanding Vietnamese entrepreneurs nationwide. At the same time, the program will consider honoring prominent entrepreneurs in areas such as innovation, digital transformation, international integration and sustainable development.

The consideration and final selection of entrepreneurs meeting the criteria for the title will be based on a rigorous and objective multi-stage evaluation process, ensuring that those truly deserving are recognized. “We hope that each entrepreneur honored will not only be an outstanding individual but also a representative of the spirit of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the new era: Integrity – Innovation – Resilience – Integration – Sustainable Development,” VCCI Vice President Hoang Quang Phong emphasized.

Promoting the Resilience, Responsibility and Creativity of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs

To ensure that the program achieves its objectives and carries its full significance, VCCI Vice President Hoang Quang Phong expressed his expectation that nominations from agencies, organizations and localities should not be based solely on business scale or performance, but should also place emphasis on the sustainable values that entrepreneurs create for employees, communities, the environment and the country.

The program also provides an opportunity to promote the image of Vietnamese entrepreneurs who are patriotic, resilient, responsible and creative; who have the courage to think big, take action and embrace innovation for the prosperous development of the nation.

Overview of the Launching Ceremony

VCCI is committed to working closely with the Selection Council, relevant authorities and organizations to implement the program in an open, transparent, objective and compliant manner, ensuring that the “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs – Thanh Giong Cup” title continues to uphold its value, credibility and influence within the business community and society as a whole.

VCCI Vice President Hoang Quang Phong expressed his confidence that, with the active support of ministries, sectors, localities, business associations and the business community nationwide, the 2026 Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs program will identify the most exemplary entrepreneurs, thereby strongly promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, fostering the development of the private sector, and building a strong Vietnamese business community with the capacity to compete in the new era of national development.

At the launching ceremony, Mr. Hoang Van Anh, Head of the VCCI Membership Affairs Department, introduced information about the program and announced the application dossier and selection criteria for the honors. He also addressed questions and concerns raised by businesses regarding the program.

The Ceremony to announce and confer the “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs – Thanh Giong Cup” 2026 title is expected to be held on the occasion of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day (October 13).

The series of activities commemorating Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day (October 13) is expected to include the Forum “Pioneering Entrepreneurs – Enabling Government in the New Era”; the Ceremony to honor and confer the “Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs – Thanh Giong Cup” 2026 title; a meeting with Party and State leaders; and the exhibition “Vietnamese Enterprises – Rising Together with the Nation in a New Era.”
