Lite-On Technology's board of directors approved cash capital injections of $210 million into Lite-On Technology Vietnam Co., Ltd. and $110 million into Lite-On Vietnam Co., Ltd.
According to disclosures filed with Taiwan's stock exchange, both capital increases are intended to meet expenditure requirements for capacity expansion.
Lite-On said the funds would be injected in phases, depending on actual demand, and would come from the group's own resources.
Following the newly approved capital increases, Lite-On's cumulative investment in Lite-On Vietnam is expected to reach approximately $542.5 million, while its investment in Lite-On Technology Vietnam will total around $369 million, according to the company's disclosures.
Founded in Taiwan in 1975 as an LED manufacturer, Lite-On now supplies optoelectronic components, electronic equipment and power management solutions for servers, cloud computing and AI data centers.
New Quang Ninh province factory expected to open in November
Lite-On Vietnam operates in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Hai Phong urban, industrial and service complex. The company received its first investment registration certificate in 2013 and manufactures electronic components, computer peripherals and optical equipment.
Meanwhile, Lite-On Technology Vietnam is the investor in a factory project at Song Khoai Industrial Park in the northern province of Quang Ninh. The first phase of the project was launched in March 2025, covering approximately 30 hectares, with total expected investment of $690 million. The facility will focus on manufacturing computer electronic components, optical equipment, lighting products and communications equipment.
According to Taiwan's Economic Daily News, reporting on Lite-On's earnings briefing on October 30, CEO Anson Chiu said the new factory's floor space in Quang Ninh would be approximately four times that of the group's existing facility in Hai Phong.
Lite-On executives said the $320 million capital increase for the two Vietnamese subsidiaries was a new investment item that had not been included in the group's previous capital expenditure plan. The two disclosures to Taiwan's stock market stated that the funding would come from the group's own capital.
Economic Daily News reported that the capacity expansion in Vietnam was linked to orders from major North American cloud computing customers.
Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA) reported that Lite-On expects to inaugurate its new factory in Vietnam in November 2026.
The latest capital increase follows a $149 million investment plan announced by Lite-On for its two Vietnamese subsidiaries in April 2026. At the time, the group approved $110 million for Lite-On Vietnam and $39 million for Lite-On Technology Vietnam.
AI-related business accounts for more than 30% of revenue
The capital increase in Vietnam was announced on the same day Lite-On reported its Q3/2026 financial results. Consolidated revenue rose 28% year-on-year to T$57.4 billion ($1.81 billion) in Q3, while net profit climbed 60% to T$7.4 billion.
For the first nine months of the year, consolidated revenue reached T$153.5 billion ($4.83 billion), up 26% from a year earlier, while net profit stood at T$18.3 billion.
Earnings per share (EPS) came in at T$8.08, up 64% and marking a new record high.
Lite-On said revenue from cloud computing-related operations surged 80% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2026. AI-related revenue accounted for more than 30% of the group's total revenue during the year.
The group has identified power management for AI data centers, liquid cooling technology and optical communications as key areas for continued development.
Beyond Vietnam, Lite-On has announced plans to invest $919 million in a facility in McKinney, Texas, the United States. The investment will cover land, facilities and equipment to expand manufacturing capacity for products related to AI power infrastructure, the group said. The facility is expected to begin operations in Q2/2027.
