According to Super Energy, the 30MW wind power project, located in the southern city of Can Tho, successfully achieved COD on December 31, 2025 and began delivering 27 MW to state utility Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
The remaining 3 MW are expected to complete necessary procedures to reach COD and supply electricity to the national grid in the first quarter of 2026.
The project entered its final testing phase (pre-commercial operation date – PCOD) on November 27, 2025, while maintaining strict compliance with technical and legal requirements.
The project’s successful launch came after the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ThaiCham) sent a petition in early December 2025 regarding renewable energy.
ThaiCham reported that Thai investors have poured approximately $2.57 billion into renewable energy projects in Vietnam, with a total capacity exceeding 2,594 MW. However, many businesses are facing serious financial risks due to delayed feed-in tariff (FIT) payments and complications surrounding power purchase agreements (PPAs).
ThaiCham noted that timely resolution of these legal obstacles will ensure fairness, legal transparency, and consistency in Vietnam's investment environment, thereby restoring investor confidence and maintaining the country's attractiveness as a destination for long-term green energy investment.
Hau Giang province, Soc Trang province and Can Tho city were merged in July last year to form the new Can Tho. Can Tho is one of the six centrally-governed cities in Vietnam, together with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Danang, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City.
